🌑 New Moon
beginning · intention · dark · seed
- Angle
- 0° — Moon and Sun in the same degree
- Illumination
- 0–2% lit
- In the cycle
- the first two to three days of the cycle
At the New Moon the Moon sits beside the Sun and shows us no lit face at all. Nothing is visible yet, which is exactly the point: the cycle begins in the dark, before there is anything to show anyone.
Because Sun and Moon are conjunct, whatever sign they share is doubled — the will and the instinct want the same thing for once. That is why intentions set now feel unusually uncomplicated, and why the New Moon's sign tells you the department of life the next month belongs to.
What it is good for
- Name one thing you actually want, in a sentence, before you plan it.
- Start rather than launch: seeds do not need an audience.
- Rest is legitimate work here; the visible push comes later in the cycle.
